Details

Glen Ormond Guest House

Our well-appointed country house, Glen Ormond Guest House, is located in the rolling green hills of the Midlands Meander of South Africa's province KwaZulu-Natal, where we offer the perfect combination of luxurious and comfortable accommodation in Rosetta at real value for money. Our house is situated on a remarkably beautiful property elevated above the Mooi River, between the small towns of Mooi River and Nottingham Road. We are only 7 km from the N3.

Our Accommodation

We offer suites and cottages which each accommodate two guests as well as family cottages that sleep four people.

If you take up the breakfast package, you'll be served our delicious and renowned Glen Ormond breakfast in the privacy of your cottage, or you can opt to self cater. All the cottages have excellent self-catering facilities, except for the Crowned Crane, where breakfast is always served.

All suites and cottages also have well-equipped private verandas with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, the massive Drakensberg mountains stretched out like a painting in the distance.

Strolling around Glen Ormond will reward you with sightings of our remarkable birdlife, including the exotic crowned crane. For hot days, there is a pool in which to cool off. On cooler evenings, cosy fireplaces or gas heaters will keep you warm.

Activities & Events

An easy one-hour drive from Durban and four and a half hours on the N3 highway from Johannesburg, there is much to explore and to do here.

Glen Ormond is a bird lover’s paradise.  We have an astonishing array of different kinds of bird life here such as many different kinds of raptors, including the majestic crowned eagle and the glorious fish eagle.  The river at the bottom of our property attracts a host of water fowl and the area is renowned for the various cranes that visit each year, including the spectacularly gorgeous crowned crane, of which the flocks have at times numbered over 100 birds!  Of course, a flock of smaller birds hop around, whistling happy songs.

Fascinating local events, fabulous cuisine, revitalizing outdoor activities, over-the-top adventure sports, historic landmarks and wildlife conservation are to be enjoyed in the Midlands Meander. You can shop-till-you-drop, buy unique arts and crafts, or spend time unwinding and relaxing.

Discover our local artists or sample tankards of craft beer and eat to your heart's content at the local brewery. The enormous Midmar Dam is a 35-minute drive away and offers watersports as well as game viewing. We gladly arrange golf, fly-fishing, horse riding, a tour of the Battlefields, hot air ballooning or a treetop tour for you.
