Choose between two country houses. Our comfortably furnished and upmarket Vergezient Lodge blends rustic charm with old-fashioned elegance and offers in spacious style 10 tastefully decorated en-suite guest rooms, with double and family-sized accommodation on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Some bedrooms incorporate a lounge, with or without a fireplace.
There is also a fully-stocked bar and we gladly prepare lunch on request. The lounge-dining-room and enclosed veranda provide comfortable and generous spaces. Prepared with care and served by our friendly staff, the delicious home-cooked meals are an important part of your stay at Drakensberg Mountain Retreat; especially the 3-course set menu candlelit dinners are much loved by our guests.
And there is The Barnhouse which offers exclusive use accommodation for groups and is the perfect venue for a company break away, conference, retreat or getting the whole family together for some quality time. With self-catering available in the well-equipped kitchen, you have the freedom to cook whatever and whenever you choose to.
Drakenzicht Mountain Cottage
Self-catering at the foot of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Mountains and World Heritage Site, with unsurpasseded views. Our child-friendly farm house, Drakenzicht Mountain Cottage nestles peacefully amid springs and streams, 27km southwest of Winterton and offers a scenic retreat or a fantastic family holiday in the Champagne valley. Our farm house is situated on a breathtaking 50 acres property and has been nestling peacefully at the foot of the Central Berg for more than five decades.
Our Accommodation
Our holiday house Drakenzicht has three guest rooms (2 bedrooms with double beds and one with 2 single beds) and a fourth outside room with two bunkbeds. A sleeper couch in one of the double rooms provides extra sleeping space.
The open plan lounge and dining area has a TV and a satellite dish, with DSTV (satellite television programmes) activated on request.
The farmhouse kitchen is equipped with all the necessary amenities. But the star feature of our self-catering accommodation is the lovely covered verandah which serves as entertainment area, with a generous wooden table seating ten and an equally generous view of the mountainous horizon. The open braai (barbecue) facility on the outskirt of our elevated property shares this sweeping panorama.
Activities
Come tread more than 3km of the cleared trails through our meadows. Benches dot the landscape overlooking a gorge and the valley below, with the mountains Giants Castle, Injasuthi, Champagne Castle and Cleft Peak all in plain view. The bird life in our lush garden is abundant, and vervet monkeys, birds of prey, bushbuck or even the endangered ground hornbill might surprise you on your lazy afternoon stroll.
Our holiday house is perfectly positioned to explore the numerous hiking and mountain bike routes of the Central Drakensberg, as well as its various golf courses and horse riding opportunities.

Drinkwater Guest Farm
This welcoming, child-friendly oasis of warm South African hospitality is situated only 18 km south of Ermelo on the N11, making it the ideal overnight B&B accommodation in the Ermelo area which also offers conference facilities. The Drinkwater farm acquired its name during the Anglo-Boer war thanks to the clear fresh water springs found on the property.
Drinkwater is midway between the Limpopo (Northern) Province and the Kwazulu Natal Drakensberg Mountain Resorts, Game Parks, Natal Battlefields and Coastal Areas. It is a three hour drive to the Kruger Park.

Ten cottages with modern comforts are located in a park-like garden, including one wheelchair-friendly unit and 2 self-catering rooms. Enjoy hearty farm breakfasts and by arrangement dinners from Monday to Thursday. A conference / function venue, Wi-Fi and a laundry service are also available.
Dynasty Red Mountain Ranch
Scenicly situated in Clarens, our child-friendly Dynasty Red Mountain Ranch is 10 minutes away from town, which is an artist’s haven, and a five minute drive to the entrance of the beautiful Golden Gate Highlands National Park as well as a three hour drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria.

We offer a 250m², 3 bedroom holiday house with stunning mountain views and many modern conveniences such as air conditioning, television, and Wi-Fi. This holiday home offers patios, a barbecue area, a spacious open plan living area with a wood burning oven and a fully fitted kitchen with a dishwasher. Each of the three bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom.
And there is our beautiful self-catering apartment with 1 bedroom, sleeping 2 guests, also offers mountain views and is a cozy, stylish, yet warm and inviting home away from home.

Our Accommodation
On our guest farm we offer four architect designed chalets and two restored historical clay-brick cottages, where each piece of furniture, fitting and detail has been hand-made by the local community. The chalets are named after indigenous plants and trees, each offering lot sof privacy, tranquillity and magnificent views. Each unit has its own private splash pool. The honeymoon and family chalets are tucked away in a beautiful forest setting. We do have a babysitter upon request.
Activities
There is a short walk down to the forest, keep straight past the sign for Erica Chalet and you will descend into the forest. Once amongst the trees follow the path and cross the stream deep into the extensive forest. Alternatively, explore our forest trails with your own bicycle or mountain bike.

Our Facilities
At the heart of the property is our restaurant and main building with the bar under a camel thorn tree. Behind it rises the Etusis marble mountains and the mighty Otjipatera massif.
Our grass roof bungalows are spread around our pool. A wonderful opportunity to cool off, especially during the warm lunchtime. A table tennis table offers further variety. Our small museum with artifacts from Etusis and the surrounding area from nature or history invites you to visit and also serves as a room for conferences.
We have a lot to offer - don't just come for one night but rather stay with us for two, or even better, three nights, giving you the chance to really experience Etusis and pursue various activities. To travel the 17km from the C32 only for one night in our - admittedly very beautiful - bungalows would be a shame.

Thornvilla has been producing wine since 1950 and has been in the Naudé family for 3 generations and is currently a working wine farm. Gannaga Lodge
Situated close to Middelpos, you will find our Gannaga Lodge on 20 hectares of private grounds within the Tankwa National Park - formerly known as the Tankwa Karoo National Park. Here, in the Roggeveld Karoo at the summit of the breathtaking Gannaga Pass you will stay in some of the most spectacular countrysides in the Northern Cape province. Middelpos, which is 28 kilometres from our guesthouse, is located on the R354, exactly halfway between Sutherland and Calvinia. We run the only establishment within the boundaries of the national park that offers bed and breakfast, half-board and full-board accommodation as well as a restaurant, bar facilities and self-catering facilties as well.

We have an astonishing array of different kinds of bird life here such as many different kinds of raptors, including the majestic crowned eagle and the glorious fish eagle. The river at the bottom of our property attracts a host of water fowl and the area is renowned for the various cranes that visit each year, including the spectacularly gorgeous crowned crane, of which the flocks have at times numbered over 100 birds! Of course, a flock of smaller birds hop around, whistling happy songs.
Fascinating local events, fabulous cuisine, revitalizing outdoor activities, over-the-top adventure sports, historic landmarks and wildlife conservation are to be enjoyed in the Midlands Meander. You can shop-till-you-drop, buy unique arts and crafts, or spend time unwinding and relaxing.
Discover our local artists or sample tankards of craft beer and eat to your heart's content at the local brewery. The enormous Midmar Dam is a 35-minute drive away and offers watersports as well as game viewing. Our Facilities
For your hosts it is important that you feel at home and therefore a water dispenser, ice machine and coffee machine are available for your convenience as is open Wi-Fi everywhere in the guesthouse.
On sunny summer days the sparkling pool awaits you for a revitalising swim with a panoramic view. Also take in the spectacular views and fresh mountain air from a spacious patio where spectacular sunsets can be enjoyed with a bird's eye view as well.
For those who truly enjoy the outdoors, why not relax in the Boma around a bush fire with a cold drink in hand or have a Braai / barbecue. Barbecue facilities are also available on almost every private patio.
For bed and breakfast guests we offer a combination of a continental and a farm breakfast. Our chef also prepares 2-course dinners at an additional cost, but booking is essential. Breakfasts and dinners are enjoyed on the sunny patio or in the cosy dining room. In winter a log fire in the lounge welcomes guests in for friendly conversations with a glass of good wine in hand. Cosy fire places are also found in 3 of the guest rooms.
Activities
While our mountain views are perfect for artists and photographers, at Granny Dot's Country Spot the bird life is prolific which will be a delight for any avid bird watcher. There are also numerous species of small game in the area, which you might see, such as Limpopo bushbuck, duiker, samango and vervet monkeys, baboons, porcupines, bush pigs, civit cats, jackals, mongooses and spotted genets.
This is a hiker's paradise, as you can walk down to the dam or simply hike on the farm roads, enjoying the scenery. Hiking trails have been clearly marked for you on the farm, with a number of routes to choose from, the shortest being ± 3 km.
The surroundings are also the ideal terrain for mountain bikers and cross country runners - just bring your own bike, or discover the many attractions and adventures, ranging from visits to a berry farm or cheese farm, breathtaking waterfalls, a beer brewery and 4x4 trails. There are the ancient cycads in Modjadji, wonderful scenic drives, golf courses and other popular activities such as biking, canoeing, fishing and horse riding to name a few.
Green Olive Guest House
Ideally located on the picturesque "Golden Mile" along the R317, connecting Robertson to Bonnievale, our child-friendly Green Olive Guest House and wedding / event venue is set on a historic farm between roses and vineyards with breathtaking mountain views, and offers wheelchair-accessible farm accommodation in the Robertson wine valley of the Cape Winelands, with popular and most prestigious neighbouring wine farms.
We also stand just 9 km away from the town center and offering a tranquil escape with easy access to local attractions.
Our Accommodation
The Green Olive Guest House is set in a magnificent garden filled with roses and hydrangeas. Various types of accommodation are on offer from large en-suite bedrooms in the main house to three family cottages that can sleep 4 to 6 people. Each family unit is equipped for self-catering including individual barbecue/Braai areas.
The guest rooms in the main house are accessible from the large roofed wooden veranda. All are situated in large manicured gardens with a sparkling swimming pool and a shared, shaded outdoor barbecue area.
A continental breakfast is included in the price and a full English breakfast is available at an extra charge. We also provide dinners and lunches on request.
There is also ample secure parking.

Our Accommodation
We have eight (8) en-suite guest rooms consisting of five twin rooms, and three double bedded rooms. All rooms are equipped with a TV, a coffee/tea station as well as a small bar fridge. Families are welcome to choose between the self-catering flat with two rooms and a unit with double bed plus a bunk bed. Our rates are affordable and are negotiable the longer you stay.
Tired of travelling all day cropped up in your vehicle? Sometimes one just wants to sit down outside and unwind after a long journey or days work. We know the feeling, so we have made sure that our garden, with benches and nooks to sit down, is such a place to unwind.
